Somme Institute: Skincare for the Masses

As you all know, Donna Cardana has introduced us all the the incredible science that is Somme Institute Skincare and now I have been lucky enough to try this unbelievable line (Thanks, Donna!). Somme Institute is a research company that developed a five step cleansing regimen over almost eight years of testing and trials. The result was the discovery of MDT5 (Molecular Dispersion Technology 5), “a formulation of 5 highly-engineered vitamins (A, B3, B5, C and E) bound to proteins.”

This incredible discovery is what makes Somme so unique. The patented technology is able to work from the inside out, clearing up any and all skin problems from the root. MDT5 penetrates the skin and releases the five key vitamins beneath the epidermis.

Somme is a 5-step regimen for all skin types that targets acne, rosacea, sun damage, wrinkles, and more all from beneath the skin. The steps are as follows:

  1. Nourishing Cleanser: Cleanses
  2. Transport: Exfoliates
  3. Serum: Treats
  4. A-Bomb: Moisturizes
  5. Double Defense SPF 30+: Protects

At first glance, 5 steps might seem like a lot, but in fact, it really is quick and easy. I have personally not always been the best when it comes to skincare. I kind of slack and get lazy, especially at night. I’m not proud of it, but I have been known to sleep in my makeup from time to time. So when a company (made up of researchers and doctors no less!) sets up a regimen for me, it takes the guessing out of the equation.

Somme works for all skin types. Donna, who is almost 20 years older than me, has had incredible results and now that I have had the opportunity to try Somme, my results are just as terrific! During the first week of use, I didn’t notice much improvement in my skin. In fact, I might have gotten an extra blemish here and there, but then after about two weeks of continuous use, my skin was smoother, softer and clearer than ever before!

Somme’s cleanser is the gentlest, yet most effective cleanser I have ever used. A little really goes a long way and it is sufficient in makeup removal. Step two is a little round pad (Transport) that work as an exfoliator. It does tingle a little, but I actually like that–it makes me feel like it is really working! And if there is any left over makeup below the jaw line or other missed spots, transport makes sure to pick that up while exfoliating. Even though there are no harsh beads or crystals, transport still gets the job done. In the past, other exfoliators have made my skin feel so incredibly soft, but then a few hours later, that feeling is gone. With transport, my face is as smooth as a baby’s little tooshie 24/7!

Next is the serum and then the moisturizer goes on right after. In the morning there is also the SPF protectant, but it is not necessary at night (although I used it every night for the first few weeks…oops). And that’s it! All of the steps take less than five minutes total. I now realize just how lazy I was being before. Somme has helped me implement a new level of care for my skin that I never had before. Just having the steps waiting for me every morning and night help me commit to a better skincare routine. And the chic packaging doesn’t hurt either. :)
