These feminine pleated skirts first made their comeback last season and they are still very much a “thing.” Accordion skirts are attractive because they are flowy and girly, yet soooo comfortable and easy. Maxi skirts were big in 2011 and now the more stylish version has made its way into fashionistas’ closets.
One of the most popular styles of the accordion skirt is the hi-lo cut. The mullet of skirts. I used to cringe when I saw these skirts, but the pleats take them to another level.
Then, of course, there are the knee length accordion skirts, which were all the rage this past fall. Don’t donate those pleated pieces just yet. Judging by the fall/winter 2012 fashion weeks, I’d say that conservative, 50s vibe is here to stay–at least for another season or two.
Do you own any accordion skirts? Will you be rocking them this year?
